Brian Harrington
Brian acts for a wide range of clients, companies and individuals. He prides himself on giving clients the advice and support needed to ensure that they get the best out of their people.
EMPLOYMENT LAW
Dividing his time between our York & Brighouse offices, Brian advises on a broad spectrum of employment related issues including dismissals, investigations, tribunal claims, restructurings and discrimination. He also has experience of undertaking employment work in different jurisdictions including China, Germany, France, the USA and Ireland.
In addition to his work for employers, Brian also frequently represents senior executives in termination discussions and negotiations. He’s a skilled and highly effective negotiator who rigorously defends his client’s interests to ensure that they obtain a fair, pragmatic and commercially viable outcome.
He’s also an ILM accredited tutor and an accredited workplace mediator.

Brian specialises in handling employment related Data Protection issues. He’s also an Associate Lecturer at the University of Derby and the co-author of its UK GDPR online course for Data Protection Officers.

Brian is also a governor of New College School for the Blind as well as being a trustee of Aspire-Igen Ltd; and a trustee for the Outlook Trust for the visually impaired.
Nathan Combes
Nathan has specialised in employment law and data protection for over 20 years. He acts for a wide range of businesses, organisations and individuals based in Yorkshire and throughout the UK.
He’s been described as “a first class employment lawyer” whose “understanding of human nature” means that he is often able to second guess an opponent’s next move and factor that into his advice.
EMPLOYMENT LAW
Nathan has extensive experience of acting for both employers and employees in employment law disputes and Employment Tribunal cases. Dividing his time between our York & Leeds offices, Nathan is regularly instructed by senior executives to assist with the negotiation of settlement agreements and exit packages and issues surrounding the enforcement of restrictive covenants. He is also frequently instructed to advise in relation to matters involving TUPE & discrimination law.
DATA PROTECTION
A specialist in data protection compliance, Nathan advises businesses and organisations on all aspects of UK data protection law including UK GDPR & data protection audits, policies, documents and procedures, managing data subject access requests, data breaches and ICO investigations.
Nathan is also an ILM accredited Employment Law & Data Protection Trainer.
